Sigma oil/water separators enhance continuous gravity separation and utilize two cleanable coalescer beds of oleophilic-hydrophobic beads to accelerate the process. A double probe detection system controls the discharge of oil as it accumulates in the OWS tank top. Influent is drawn into the OWS tank by the pump, which is mounted on the tank outlet. This arrangement ensures efficient separation of the oil as it avoids mixing and emulsifying prior to separation. The spaces between the beads allow fine solids to pass through without plugging the coalescer beds.
