Oil Content Monitors
IMO regulation MEPC 107(49) applies to all oil content monitors purchased after January 1, 2005. Oil content monitors manufactured before then were to have complied with previous regulation IMO regulation MEPC 60(33). Units under the previous regulation are grandfathered and may be repaired, but not replaced. In almost all cases oil content monitors which meet new regulation 107(49) are not compatible with separators manufactured under the previous regulation. This is primarily due to the requirement stating that units under 107(49) must be able to break emulsionsof oil and water caused primarily by detergents.
